CFD/Modelling Specialist Ehsaan Farsimadan presenting at 6SigmaDC Conference New York on 4th March

CFD/Modelling Specialist Ehsaan Farsimadan will be presenting at the 6SigmaDC Conference in New York on Thursday 4th March following on from Data Center Dynamics, New York.

Ehsaan Farsimadan works within Cundall’s Critical Systems team. He is a mechanical engineer by trade, but at Cundall specialises in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and has been modelling innovative cooling solutions in data halls using CFD modelling to determine functionality, energy and operation. Earlier this year Ehsaan obtained his doctorate PHD in experimental CFD.

For a brief outline of Ehsaan Farsimadan’s presentation please see the synopsis below.

Extending the boundaries of modelling: The influence of site power failure on the Data hall environment

During a site power failure, the chillers may go offline for some minutes, affecting the temperature and delivery of chilled water to the CRAC units. This will cause the air temperature to rise within the data halls. The ultimate test of robustness is to ensure that the IT equipment is adequately cooled during this time. This work outlines the key findings from a study using 6Sigma DC and FluidFlow into the thermal response of a Data centre cooling system to a worst case power failure scenario. Following this is an overview of some best practices acquired using 6SigmaDC during Data hall design, and three short case studies from real projects undertaken over the last year.
